Media for Christ, from where Channel 7, the radio station developed, was concepted in 1978 under the guidance of Trans World Radio (RSA).  Media for Christ was registered on 8 April 1982 as a nonprofit organization. 

 

Channel 7 Media Network for Christ” is a non-profit company registered under section 21 of the Companies Act (Registration number 21/82/034).

Who is Channel 7

  • Channel 7 is a community radio station that operates and is managed according to Christian principles measured by God’s Word.

 

Channel 7 strives to send out high-quality broadcasts by professional well-informed and dedicated presenters.

 

  • Channel 7 broadcasts on 32 FM transmitters all over the country and reaches more than 43 towns and communities.

 

  • Channel 7 broadcasts in Afrikaans, English, German and Oshiwambo.

 

  • Channel 7 broadcasts in German daily between 05:30 and 06:00, and in the evenings a parallel Oshiwambo program is broadcasted between 18:00 and 22:00 from a specially-equipped studio on a Windhoek transmitter, as well as the Walvisbay, Swakopmund,Lüderitz, Oranjemund, Rosh Pinah, Outapi, Oshakati and Ondangwa transmitters.

  • The Channel 7 listeners are mainly 25 years and older.

  • Channel 7’s listeners are the most loyal audience if taken into account that the transmitters are erected by the communities themselves. The community is responsible for collecting the funds covering the total capital cost of a transmitter.

  • Channel 7 is responsible for the maintenance of and power supply to the transmitters.

  • Music consists of 50% Christian (Gospel) and 50% secular music.

  • Apart from news bulletins written and compiled by Channel 7’s professional news office, it also uses Reuters, Sapa and other news agencies through Nampa as well as Penorent‚ a news organization in South Africa.

  • The correctness, accuracy and reliability of Channel 7 news bulletins are a top priority.

  • Channel 7 is involved in various community projects like Casual Day, benefiting the elderly, Radiothon and Coastal Broadcasts, to name only a few. Tithes were granted to the as well as the
