Reason for Call of Support

Upgrading of Studio's

Channel 7 has access to five studios in Windhoek at our head office. Two are broadcast studios, two are production studios and one is an online streaming studio. Furthermore there is a studio in Swakopmund and one in Oshakati from where daily broadcasts are taking place.

Except for the studio in Swakopmund all six other studios are old, 15 years and older, and all seven studios are still utilizing analogue technology.

STL (Studio to transmitter links) are more than 20 years old.

Urgent repairs, upgrading and replacement of equipment is necessary.

Outside Broadcast Vehicle

Channel 7 do many outside broadcasts all over the country. Broadcasts happens at businesses, agricultural shows, gospel events any many more.

Because of cost implications, equipment gets transported to these venues in trucks and vans. It puts a lot of strain on equipment. A well equipped Broadcast vehicle can take away a tremendous amount of wear and tear on equipment and at the same time serve as a very effective promotional platform.

Total amount needed:   N$ 1 200 000      (US$ 93 000)

Micro Broadcasting Stations

Namibia has 27 languages spoken although Oshiwambo, Afrikaans and English are the most popular. Other main languages are Kwangali, Oshiherero, Damara/Nama and Lozi. It is practically impossible for one station like Channel 7 to reach them all. However, the need exist for smaller communities to be served with the Word of God by radio. It is possible to put up a small station with a small simple studio that can reach only one community in an area of for instance 3 to 4 hundred square kilometers. At this stage the need for five such stations exist.

Total amount needed:   N$ 350 000 Per station        US$ (27 000)
